formula to find box size

if u know the width, height and lenth of a box, how do you find the cu ft and tuning of it, thanks

take the internal length x width x height and divide by 1728 to give you gross volume. Then you need to subtract port displacement. Which is basically the volume of the port.

What does dividing by 1728 count for? Ive heard to always do this but why??

thats how many square inches there are in a cubic foot.
12" x12" x12" = 1728 cubic inches
