blow/cut thru

so I told a buddy that does body work/boxes and the such that I wanted to a blow/cut thru but I had to buy a tonneau cover...he said I didnt have to, he said that he would cut the hole seal it put in the boot and all that and cover the box with sheetmetal....what do ya'll think?

Id just buy a tonneau.
Here is my reason. Your bed will move a little differently than your cab, around bumps and such, so i would leave a little play in the hole for the box to pass through. If you are going to do this, then you will not have a perfectly sealed up hole. This means, moisture, cold, heat' etc. will be able to enter exit your cab.

i would get one just so everyone couldn't see my subs, but that's just me.
