Need to build a Box for Gmc Sierra Ext. Cab.

Well, I need to build a new box for my Gmc Sierra Ext. Cab, and Well, heres what I was thinking. My box has to be a really weird shape to get the correct airspace for a vented enclosure. Would Aeroports be better than a baffle port? Heres roughly what my box will look like.


The box will house a SI Mag D2, and I'm not home now, but dimentions will come after I get home.
I know the images are crappy, Microsoft Paint FTL, What program do you all use to make box images?

allot of ppl use sketch-up design software... Easy to use and nice layout.... The aeroports will work well... I ported an enclosure for a 93 ford ranger regular cab.... 2.5 ft3 tuned to 32 hz... took up a little leg room since the seat was moved forward to accomodate, but it is possible... I used elbows to turn the ports so that they did not run into the back of the box as it was only 8 inches deep, and ran the ports out the front of the box between the two bucket seats... Your truck is allot bigger then that, and should have plenty of room to work with... just use your creativity and enginuity.

Yes, Sketchup looks to be a very nice product, but I'm looking for somthing more along the lines of free .
Anyway, I got a bunch of dimentions now, I just need to draw the pics, will be posted in a while.

Why do you only have 14" o n the side of the center hump? I believe you can get at least 19" just on one side then another 15+ using the center hump. You should be able to get around 54-56" total along the whole floor under the back seat as well. At least thats how much i had on my 03 silverado ex cab. You best bet is to also make the frame for the box and fiberglass the floor to give you optimal air space and proper fit. Not to sure about the tuning part with ports when using an extended cab though

I'm not sure, thats just what my current sealed box that I made measures out to be. I do plan on glassing the floor, but the sides and top will be Mdf.

If you can put the ports on whichever face the sub is on will lead to the lowest cancellation between the two. Giving you the cleanest, most accurate sound. As far as port area goes I don't know whats recomended for your sub...

The port area will need to be around 870 cubic inches(.5 cubic feet), plus the 1.5 cubes on top of that for the box.

fire a two 4" aeroports to the rear. having the sub/ports on the same plane isn't important, well, as important as some people believe. IME, sub firing down, ports to the rear is the loudest in these trucks, if your staying under the seats.

and in case your wondering..i've got a lil experience with xcab chevy's...



that's a single memphis pr ten.....tuned to 38hz...





that's a dual ten memphis hpo box.


and i've thrown a solo x 18 in there too...with the backseat in and out....

well, it wouldn't help you much. the single 10 box has like 7in^2 of port area (whatever it is memphis recommends for a pr10) and the hpo box has 3" ports per sub. both are tuned higher then you want as well, 38hz, so they'll be shorter then you wish.


according to the calculator i linked above...you'll need one 4" port 19" long or two 4" ports 41" long......
