Is it ok to make my rings shown in the pic below out of 1/2 mdf or should I use 3/4?

either way would be fine.
if you already have them cut out of 1/2" then use that.
if not then just use whatever you have lying around.

Used 3/4 mdf.
I had to build my sub box anyways which I did last night and had some mdf left over.

So now to finish my pods. about time.
