1st fiberglassin'...(STAGE 1) *PIC*

well here it goes....

so i did my taping and stuff to my frineds Intrigue, and layed the first layer of resin/mat and he went home with that strong odor of glass(you know that smell!) so after school when it was solid, we went to my house and popped the mold, so easy with painters tape it popped right out. well as you will see in the pics, i put a little 2 much resin on the bottom when i started so i just layed a large piece of mat over the bottom and just let it soak, but dont worry i'll be gettin her layered nice tomorrow with 2+ layers for the base. then ill remove the tape, cuz im doubting the strength of the sides at this point. there is also one air bubble i need to get rid of and re glass.

yea more resin tomorrow to the entire thing, it will be alot easier to work with cuase i can tip it since its out of the car to get into the hard to reach places, the excess mat was just to soak up all the resin that was pooling. more pics tomorrow! its not a kick either, it will be a single or dual sub box for the trunk.

soak that **** in resin, never hurts to drench it. do 2-4 layers on the whole thing not just the base.

ohyesi have a nice package of mat waiting for the sides as well. 2mora will be a good day.

for the future, that mold could of been taken out within 45 minutes of applying it, it should be hard enough by that point, this prevents the car from asboring that resin smell, then from here I would remove the tape ASAP, bcuz the resin creates this weird heat which allows for the tape to be easyly lifted, anyhow if this si ur 1st one, it looks good.

yea, but the kid that was helpin me mix some medium to large batches of resin i dont think put enough hardener in, but this morning it was harder than bob doles knob after 10 viagra. for future refrence i will mix the batches myself.

nice comparison lol not really what i want to visual though, yea but i did the same thing, didnt mix harderner the 1st time, ending up waiting forever.

i was just tippin it on the side to move some extra resin to an area i needed. its SOLID and FITS like a GLOVE.
