    Progress....thus far!

MAN!!! Did i really dig my self into this one!

    But it's coming along!!

I planned to give it away to some1 n pay them to finish it, but the DIYer in me wouldn't have it! So i stuck to it, and found out bondo isn't as hard as i thought it was. Although still tedious and time consuming.

So Half a sheet of MDF, 1 and 1/8the Resin, Lots a Biaxial Cloth, **** yellow fleece, sweat, and frustration later this is what i've got so far.

    Let the BONDO begin!

    The fiberglassed port

Didn't want to spend much time bondoing the inside which shouldn't be seen,
SO i laid down some primer, did it in the dark, so wasn't perfect.

Wasn't till after, the flash showed me all this, wish i gone over it with a few more coats. Wish i had better lighting.

Nobody's heard them. They aren't in production yet. There is no prototype even available. But he should still consider them. They will rock. I promise.
PS: The new Squeaksters will be a midwoofer addition to my subwoofer line, the Squeakinators

A GALLON of bondo later, this is where we are at

I'd say about 2 more gallons of bondo and it'll be SMOOOOTH!!

Then i think i'mma shot it with a couple cans of spray. Not sure if i want like a satin black or glossy black.

    Stay tuned!

    Re: Progress....thus far!

THE best thing i can recommend to any1 attempting something that calls for lots of Bondo is...... BUY A FILE! They sell it in autozone and pepboys n all those places, same aisle as the bondo. All u need is the file itself, don't need the attachment, it works WONDERS!!!

ALSO buy the filler scoop as well! gets ALL the bondo of the sides, u will waste NONE!

By the way, the bondo on there now, is more so my "first layer". I decided to take the advice of a few readups i've had, that recommended that the first one is more like a ruff draft, so keep that in mind.

Oooo yea! But i got my grits ready for war!!

That's another tip, lots of bondo does require lots of sanding. DON'T buy a cheapo block, get a nice one with a grip, spend the xtra 2$. It REALLY helps with the heavy grits. i sand 4x faster using my 5$ walmart block, with a grip and quick release for faster paper loading/unloading then i do with my cheap *** 3$ block.

    Re: Progress....thus far!

Yeah an orbital will work. You have to have a pretty decent size air compressor for a DA (dual Action) sander. Thats why I love my 30 Gallon air compressor.

I love my DA too, with my 100 gallon tank to go with it. Slap some 60 on it and go to work.
