What is more important, Box size or port freq?

Hey i was wanting to know, when building boxes to spec, is it ok to go a little smaller if the tuning freq is the same? Will i lose a lot of bass? I am going to build a box for an infinity perfect 12.1d if that helps. Thanks!

Neither are "more" important......they are both very important to the final results.

How much smaller are we talking? If we are talking .25cuft, it's not a *huge* deal. If we are talking 1cuft smaller.....that's a pretty big deal.

I'd think that .25 cubes difference from say a box that is only 1 cube or so, would be a pretty big differnce. But .25 from a 6 cube box wouldnt be near the difference.

Really just depends on what you're trying to achieve with it.

Ok, well it calls for 1.75 cu ft., and i was looking to make it 1.5 or so. If it is a big deal, i can just go with regular specs. Does a perfect perform well in ported? i know they are great for small sealed, but i want a little more volume. Thanks, guys!
