Port Question

Ok, I have been wondering this for about a year now... Would it be possible to use square PVC for a port? My dad owns a fence and deck business, and he has a **** load of scrap laying around that he doesn't use. Most of the openings measure 5" by 5", but some measure 4" by 4"...

Would there be any reason not to use this as a port?

sure you can use it as a port, as long as you get the right length in. Same general idea as round ports, except there is more port area and you'd need some longer ports.

if teh shoe fits, wear it. but be careful with the tuning as it isn't the same as a 5" round port
