    BOX BUILD! worklog [pics]

Thanks to Moe Lester for the design... it's a ported box with 4.5 cu ft tuned at 33Hz.

Gonna have two 12" Alpine Type R (2005 version) pushed by an Orion 1200D; this baby should get LOUD. Going into the bed of a regular cab 2000 silverado and will be blown-through into the cab.

First off, the actual design of the box.

My workspace at home, consisting of a folding table, some smaller tables, and some bricks. Works great!

The cut boards laid out before I attempted some sort of cleanup.

The boards all cut out and stacked up, ready to be sanded some and glued/screwed together tomorrow. Labeled in MSPaint.

The front baffle. Gorgeous cutouts with the jigsaw :-)

I cut out a Chevy Logo that I'm gonna put on the back of the box, raised up with some bondo. Need to sand it up a little, but otherwise, looks pretty nice IMO.

Still have to finish cutting the dowel rods I'm using as bracing (the circles in the design picture) and all of the 45 degree braces.

Tomorrow night, after I get home from shool, I'll finish a couple cuts, sand a few pieces, and hopefully put it all together. Pics to come.

Later this week, but maybe not even until the weekend, I'm gonna resin all of the inside of the box(my first resin job). Pics of that to come, as well.

    Re: BOX BUILD! worklog [pics]

:-) I should get some SPL numbers November 27th at a big car show coming here. I'll bump this thread with pics of everything, including the blow-through, tonneau cover, new coaxials + 4 ch. amp, big 3(anyone got a link to this thread, by the way), H.O. alternator, optima yellow top, and maybe a 1F cap.

That should be it, I may be forgetting a think or two though

Aesthetics. It's going into the bed of the truck, so anytime you raise the tonneau and lower the tailgate, you'll see the back of the box. That's why.

    link for the big three.

nice sounding setup.. dont think you'll need the 1farad cap unless you just like the way they look.

you should be fine with teh rest of the electrical you have there planed.

    good luck with the build.

the cap will be just for aesthetics in the bed of the truck; should look NICE. i'll post up an MSPaint sketch later of what the back of the bed should look like

    Re: BOX BUILD! worklog [pics]

    BUMP!

Put almost everything together today... sanded a couple edges (hey, it's my second build, not every cut is gonna be perfect). Glued everything together thorougly with Liquid Nails and screwed it all together with some 2" Drywall screws (I predrilled first, of course).

All that's left is to glue/screw in the assembled port piece, add the two dowel rods for bracing, add the 45 degree angles, and drill the holes for the speaker wires, and it will be fully assembled for now(everything but the top).

Probably this weekend I'll resin the entire interior of the box. How man coats should do well? I'll also bondo that super-cool chevy logo to the rear of the box. I think I'm gonna strategically place some LEDS or neon to illuminate the logo.

The amp is in the mail, and the subs are gonna be ordered soon. Can't wait :o

And, without further ado, the pictures:

The sides, back, and bottom all glued on(not screwed in yet).

Got the front baffle glued on. Those cutouts need a little more work, I'll file em down a little bit probably tomorrow :-)

Here's the port in place, its just standing there for now, no glue or screws, I ran out of time (I've got to get to bed early, cross country practice at 5:30AM every morning).

And an aerial view. The port is merely standing in place here, hence the gaps seen.

I'll bump this sometime tomorrow night with some more pictures. Enjoy :-)

IMHO if the subs fit in the cutouts, i wouldnt worry at all about filing them down.

    Its lookin nice

They'll fit just fine, it's just that I'm a perfectionist. Oh well.
