    3 10's or 2 12's?

I'm deciding on a setup for my Standard Cab Z71. Got the seats moved up, a little bit, and looking for options. What I'm looking for is ground shaking bass, as in so hard the vehicle next to me could fill it at a light. Would you go with 3 10" subs, 2 12" subs, or maybe even 4 10" subs?

    Re: 3 10's or 2 12's?

For what youre looking for, which is idiotic, I would go for the three 10's. There will be more cone area, and theoretically more potential to "shake the ground."

Let me tell you something though, trying to make the car next to you shake will not earn you any repsect on this web site. Car audio in your car should be heard in your car alone, and should be for your own enjoyment.

That was just an expression if you know what I'm saying. But you get my drift, I want something with allot of bass to show off with. So your saying 3 10's would hit harder then the 2 12's?

It will be install dependant, but with the cone area, you will have the potential to do it.

i say just go with the twelves man. 2 12s will have the low end to shake the car and also be heard outside. Im assuming u listen to Hip-Hop or watever so 12s would suite u well. Forget the whole theory stuff. Just get 12s

Type E 12s are pretty good. A friend of mine has them in a LeSabre and they sound good. Pretty small *** box too.

    Re: 3 10's or 2 12's?

3 10's for your truck becuase 10's generally have a shallower mounting depth. and that'd make it easier for your small space.

    3x10's rock the house anyway, get 3 10 sx's from reaudio.com

your truck will fall apart if you do it right.

    Re: 3 10's or 2 12's?

cone area is not a theory is a fact!
there are other factors that take sides to which one would be louder.

    anyways
how much depth, width and height do you have available for the enclosure.
how much power do you have from the amp. amp model?, 1 or 2 amps?.

    Re: 3 10's or 2 12's?

your not going to fit any decent 12" behind your seats. any decent 12 will have a magnet too large to fit in any enclosure.

i have a standard cab chevy (2000) and tried extensively; ended up with two 10" type r's

good luck even getting 3 10"s, imo

Agreed, if you are planning on spending the same on both, then get ths 12's. I would rather have two 12" subs that are high level, than three mid to low level 10" subs.

    Re: 3 10's or 2 12's?

I don't see anything in his post to indicate that his decision is between top notch 12's and mediocre 10's. Three 10's in a regular cab could be the better option as long as he has a plan on where to fit three 10's and his amps and such.
