    Re: My dad can fiberlgass!

there really isnt much to it other than getting the ratio (resin/catalyst) correct and blotting the **** out of the cloth/carpet/fleece...its the finishing that takes alot of experience/skill.

imho, getting the rings to be perfect circles makes a huge difference in the overall outcome of the piece..you can do an awesome sanding/filling/finishing job and have a a great paint job done, but if you have some jagged looking rings it ruins it for me.

    Re: My dad can fiberlgass!

The hard part of fiberglassing is not the actual fiberglass.

its making the mold that you apply the glass too.

then the finishing of the fiberglass.

    Re: My dad can fiberlgass!

I say read up on the net, Then get your dad to help you with the basics ( mixing ratio's, wetting out techniques yada yada) . Having someone around that knows the basics can help a whole lot. Unless your dad was building boat hulls for a living ( my dad actually did ) . You will both probably need to read up on frame building, and how to create baffles and such.
