~Custom L7 trunk worklog~

I'm pretty much building a whole new trunk for my Bonneville... The sub is a 15" L7, Powered by a PA LT980/2, and an amp rack for that amp and a matching PA LT480/2. I'm planning on fibergalssing in pieces, and then take those out for sanding/bodyfilling/painting. After that the pieces will be put back in the car, and bondo'd together to fill the cracks, then a final coat of paint while all put together in the car, making it a semi-permanent install.

This are pics from a couple days ago, I'll try to post better/updated ones tonight.

r u going to flush mount the sub and put a grill on it?

no grill, no flush mount. However, I have a couple of streetwires LED projector lights I will be shining on it, and one light for each amp, also. Going to go take more pics now.

I'll be able to get everything in, and I don't really plan on taking it back out lol. Even if I wasn't glassing I wouldn't be able to fit much of anything in my trunk anyway. The only problem I can see if with changing the brake light/tailight bulbs. I'm thinking of just making an ABS plastic access cover and cutting some of the fiberglass out for it where I need it.

looking good. you might have been better off just stretching material from the parts you want rounded to a frame type thing instead of using chicken wire and stuff.

A little update:

Started Body filler-ing for the first time today. Figured out it's a lot easier to put it on nicely than sand later...





Left side isn't quite done with glassing yet, 1 piece left to do on that side:

Hole is for a piece of hinged, black, 1/8" plastic as an access panel.

how do u plan on getting all the dust from sanding out of there? as well as having a NICE paint job on the final project...cant hardly wet sand/buff with it inside there.

I'm not really going for a professional paint job look on this project. As far as the dust from sanding the bondo'd pieces together, a vacuum and wet rag should do the trick. I'm not exactly worried about the carpet or anything else in the trunk, it's ripped/stained too much from this and previous installs to even be called carpet anymore lol.
