as far as the one in my van goes, i hard wired the unit (power and ground) then stuck the antenna on the roof and ran that wire in throught the trunk, made sure those 3 wires were connected and that was it

    Pretty much...

About the only key to a good working install is to make sure you have a good antenna...what kind are you using?

I'm running a 102" stainless steel whip (full quarter wave on 27MHz), plus an antenna tuner so I can use it on ham radio frequencies too. On 11 meter CB, I can reliably talk 25 miles in front and behind me on the highway. Works enough for me

Re: what i need for CB radio....

I've done that before with cordless baby monitors...those things cause so much **** interference on the six meter band (around 50MHz), so one day I simply transmitted over the signal of one that was pretty close and voiced my displeasure hopefully I convinced them to buy another kind, heh.

Or scared the **** out of them

Re: what i need for CB radio....

you know what you all can do it get a cb radio with a PA (loudspeaker) hookup...the you plug the CB unit in to the cigarette lighter via adapter...stick the unit between your seat and the center console and then put the loudspeaker, outdoor water proof type like 20bucks under the hood 12gauge wire through the firewall...at the end of the wire get 1/8inch plugs and put it into the cb unit and you can yell at people over the speaker...pull your friends over...tell people how to drive whatever
