I didn't know video degraded as the cord gets longer....I dont notice any different w/ my ps2 or xbox hooked up. This just with car audio?

why do you think you have to run 0/1 for high power applications?
EVERY element has resistance. Wire itself can be a resistance. For IT, this issue is crucial and therefore use devices that amplify the signals after a certain distance.
