Installing an Alarm???

how hard is it to install and alarm? i want to install one in my 2001 GMC Sierra its the base model no power windows or locks. i also want to install power locks and power windows. what tools would i need and what equipment? can anyone help on how to install? thanx

Here is the wiring diagram. You will need some crimps,test light,connectors,etc.

12volts red + ignition harness
Starter yellow + ignition harness
Ignition pink + ignition harness
Power Lock lt. blue + brown plug at BCM
Notes: The BCM is located behind the drivers side of the dash. The plugs on the BCM face towards the rear of the vehicle. The parking lights are in pin A5 and the headlights are in pin A11.
Power Unlock white + brown plug at BCM
Notes: The BCM is located behind the drivers side of the dash. The plugs on the BCM face towards the rear of the vehicle. The parking lights are in pin A5 and the headlights are in pin A11.
Lock Motor gray driver kick panel
Unlock Motor tan driver kick panel
Disarm Defeat tan/black passenger kick panel
Parking Lights+ brown + lt. blue plug at BCM

Use tan for the drivers door located in pin B4 of the purple plug, and for the passenger door it will be a orange in pin B2 in the purple plug or dk.blue/white in pin B11 of the lt.blue plug, must diode isolate these wires.

Notes: Also found in the purple plug of the BCM.
Disarm No Unlock
Tachometer white ac ECM
Notes: ECM is located near the battery, down low, between the fender and the fan under the black plastic cover. On the 4.3L, the tach wire is at pin 20 in the connector labeled red. On the 4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L, the tach wire is located at pin 10 in the red connector.

Diesel tach wire is white at the cluster.
Horn Trigger black - brown plug at BCM
Notes: The BCM is located behind the drivers side of the dash. The plugs on the BCM face towards the rear of the vehicle. The parking lights are in pin A5 and the headlights are in pin A11.
