Need some input from the JDM bro's.
So on september 15th my motor went. Cracked piston in cylinder 3.
Since then i haven't been able to decide what the **** i want to do.
So many options, such little $.
Basically here is the list of options i have.
1. Used ej205 bare long block and just swap all my stuff over.
2. Build my current block with forge rods and pistons, some head work.
3. Get a used 2.5l sti shortblock, slap my heads on it for a hybrid setup.
4 .Buy a brand new 2.5l sti shortblock from subaru and put my heads on it for a hybrid setup.
5 .Try to find a used sti longlock, delete avcs and swap all my stuff over.
6. Pick up a JDM ej207 from a V7 sti and swap the entire motor in.
All in all, everything else will be re-used.
VF-48
Tial 38mm wastegate
Grimmspeed wastegate up-pipe.
Grimmspeed boost control solenoid.
stock manifold (most likely will upgrade)
DeatschWerks 750cc injectors.
Full catless turbo back.
Currently a injen shortram but i am going to get something else.
will also be upgrading to at minimum STi TMIC.
Walbro 255 fuel pump.
I will most likely be adding a better than stock inlet also.
Vote/post opinions.

Dont know what turbo and other things you have to help with this decision.
Re: Need some input from the JDM bro's.
Yea i guess that would be helpful. putting it in the first post.
Re: Need some input from the JDM bro's.
I'd go used Sri block. With those upgrades could make some nice power.
Re: Need some input from the JDM bro's.
How about we find out why it cracked first so u can try and prevent it

99% positive it was the tune.
Re: Need some input from the JDM bro's.
I remember reading in scc a long time ago about certain cylinders starving for fuel on boxer engines
Re: Need some input from the JDM bro's.
id love to do a ej257 swap turbo. promising as heck. but a ej207 would be the cheapest.

Not starving for fuel, starving for air.
The intake manifold layout is kinda dumb. That is why alot of people that go for big power end up using 2.5 non-turbo intake manifolds.
they are more equally setup.

Serious question, do you know anything about subaru's?

yeah... although i drive a legacy.. ive been doing alot of reading and what not about swaps. i drive a ej251. and am going to swap in rods and pistons out of a ej257. run an ej257 head gasket and run a small boost setup <12psi. first off, you have an ej207 correct? the easiest would be to rebuild the block, or do a swap of the same motor.
however swapping up to the ej257 now gives you more displacement and torque.
but you also want to know why you cracked your piston. detonation? too lean, over heated? etc.

JDM.
Side note... you don't happen to have a VF39 for sale, huh? Or know anyone with one?
Re: Need some input from the JDM bro's.
Dirtrider not to sound like a ****. But you need to do a lot more reading up.
Re: Need some input from the JDM bro's.
#2 if you plan on dropping in a 40r or something that makes it go VRRRRRR PSHHHHHHHHHHHHHTTTTT VRRRRRR PSHHHHHHHHHHHTTTT
Re: Need some input from the JDM bro's.
Going to check out a full 04 sti motor tonight with ~58k miles. hopefully all goes well.
