6 psi is roughly equivelant to 10% more displacement
that's almost a 50% increase in intake air pressure, but there's diminishing returns due to added heat/exhaust restrictions
hmmm im pretty car illiterate lol i want to increase the speed of my cavalier alot would it increase it alot?(only if cars were as easy as computers)
if you want to go fast, buy a fast car for cryin out loud. it'll end up being cheaper and a lot more enjoyable, plus you'll have decent brakes, suspension, tranny, diff, etc.
sure you could get away with spending "only" 2-3000 dollars to put a turbo on your ****ing CAVALIER, or 1000-1500 if you REALLY know what you're doing and use junkyard parts but you'd better have a few thousand more when the added power and you driving it hard thinking "wow this things fast" and start breaking drivetrain parts.

You have a lot of research to do. Yes, a turbo can greatly increase the speed of you car. Look up turbo chargers on howthingswork.com. That is a good start. From there you will want to see if anyone else has put a turbo on a car like yours. From that you can learn the limitations of your car.

you can't just put a turbo on a car. theres alot more to it. i suggest a nitrous kit cuz its cheaper

cavalier + Turbo = BOOOOMMMM!

What year is the car?
ive been looking on the chevy sites and supposedly they make turbo's for specific cavalier engines i figured if i get the one made for my car it would be fine an mine is a 03 thanks for the comments and support keep em comin![]()
well, with an 03, it wouldn't be all that hard
get a headgasket from the supercharged cavy, and have a shop weld a 4-bolt flange to your downpipe where it used to connect to the cat
an internally wastegated turbo, some post-cat 02 sensor adaptation, some custom pipes (an air to water ic would be easiest in that engine bay), and the cost of a shop to do a fuel map for you, and you'd be set
i gaurantee it could be done for under 2k with a little gt15 or gt20, and however much boost he s/c engine runs, hell you could probably just gank the fuel maps from the s/c'ed model if you used a small enough turbo
hmmm would that be $2k with parts or just for labor? and do you think it would kill my engine? cause im in college and im not lookin for trouble later on note im not gona be racin all the time or w/e
if it's all done right you should be ok but even on an 03' you don't want to cheap on parts. i could have parted together a kit for my 06' 6s for under 3g but i'd rather wait another month and get the extra 2g's for the full stand-alone unit.
