It reads like you've never ridden before. If this is true, I whole heartedly do not recommend a R1 as your first bike.

uh I'd much rather have an R1 and a daily driver than an 07 civic....

BUT, make sure insurance doesnt *** you over on the R1

x2 on the insurance, i gotta wait til monday tho .. i ve had my own bikes and rode for about 10 yrs.. Growing up in the country is great ive rode everything from cr80's to nighthawks and r1 s, but never owned a superbike.. like i said i no how they ride a few wof my pals have r1's n gixr1000's it was just everyones opinion i was looking for, because the civic is nice , but living in northern wi /mn i dont know if id be able to ride it very often, Being that it is my (reality) dreambike this shouldnt be so tough

GREAT price on that R1, Its fine for you as long as youre not an idiot on it. It's like getting a lambo for your first car, it's only "bad" if you let it. stay safe on it and dont really get on it too hard until you get the hang of it (at least 1 summer especially if youve never rode before)

I'd get the R1 in a heartbeat. much better milage, and insurance really isnt that bad either, as long as you dont need full coverage.

I would make up a T chart with all the pro's and cons for each thing, whichever suits your needs/wants most go with!

Re: Big decision.R1. Need some advice...

    buy a real bike

But in all reality, If you've never ridden a bike take some Motorcycle Safety Foundation courses to familiarize yourself at the very least. Then buy some cheapo bike to beat on to get your skill level up. Then you can move on to a 750cc or 1000cc. But dont get it simply because its a great deal and because you've always wanted one...

I just bought an 06 gsx-r600. That ****er is fast...a lil too fast. I could't imagine why I would EVER need 1000cc bike. Please BE CAREFULL.

Re: Big decision.R1. Need some advice...

The R1 is a sweet a-s-s bike. I say go that route if you can swing the insurance. Get full coverage on it if you can afford it. I had a 1100 Honda Hurricane back in the day and It was just too much for me and I am a big guy, even back then I was big and that bike was just to powerful for me. I almost layed it down once and that is all it took for me to sell it. However I am really thinking about getting a new bike. I just need to pick up a part time job, lol!

been riding for a good 10 years, and i have alot of exp on 600's n a lil on 1000's.... Im not worried considering i drove a gxr 1000 before any 600 i ever drove.... Now THAT bike is insane, but easy to control if you dont get stupid

Cool, I just didnt want to see another set of skid marks on the road man. If you feel your confident enough and can control it, get it. But my idea still stands, buy a REAL bike,

Ducati and MV Agusta, especially mine, FTW!!
