    Drilled into gas tank

Me like a ******* was tryna figure out why everytime I fill up at the pump I have a terrible gas smell the whole day, I remembered when I got my system put in my friend tried to drill the box to the floor in the trunk but ended up drilling in the gas tank. What can I use to seel it up from the inside? I was thinking like silicone but not sure

    Re: Drilled into gas tank

They make patch kits to repair gas tanks, you can get 'em at Autozone etc. Don't ask why I know (I was very young, LOL) Obviously the best option is to replace it. But at a minimum you are going to have to drain and drop the tank to repair it. BTW silicone proably won't do well with gas.

    Re: Drilled into gas tank

I've used that JB weld stuff on lots of things but never a gas tank.
It does work great though. VERY strong after it sets. You can file it, grind on it..that is some tough stuff. Hope it works for you. It worked great for me on a plastic air cleaner housing.
    Good luck with all that!

Dear God please don't use JB Weld for this. Have it repaired by someone who knows what they are doing, or replace the tank.

    Re: Drilled into gas tank

You don't need to outsource a repair like that - it's easily enough accomplished by yourself.

Get some proper gas tank repair, drop the tank, and fix it right. As the puncture will be in the very top of the tank you shouldn't even have to drain the tank prior to making the repair (although if it is very full getting the tank remounted may be a bit of a challenge once the repair is cured well)

    Re: Drilled into gas tank

^^^^ exactly. Unless you have done this before i would not do it unless you or someone thats going to be there helping you had done this before. Its not an easy job and by the time you get everything done and all put back in and you happy most of the time the leak kits dont even work....... Best choice would be just to do it right the first time and get a whole new tank. I have done about 10 diffrent gas tank jobs at my dads shop and trust me your going to need help.
