usualy it's a bolt on, then you hook on the timing belt, reattatch the wire from the positive terminal tot he alternator (recommend using a 0gauge if your upgrading)

Mine is fairly EZ to reach, and their is lots of open space to move around..

    I would say a 4 on a scale of 1 - 10.. for my Ford..

Piece of cake, at least in my truck. With three tools (Two wrenches, on nut driver) I can have mine off and changed in less than 15 minutes

Re: how hards it to install an alternator?

When I replaced the one in my S-10, it took me under 30 min. to complete, and I dicked around alot. I would rate it a 2 on a scale of 1-10.

On some vehicles it's pretty easy. On others it's a major undertaking. I had an Isuzu Stylus once (horrible little car...wouldn't own another if it were GIVEN to me) and to get at the alternator you had to remove a motor mount and pull it out from underneath the car.

If yours is easily reached then it shouldn't be any big deal. Just be certain after you replace it to get the belt tension right if your car doesn't have an automatic tensioner (sp?)
