instead of a trophy, how about a certificate? it would be cheap, but still stand for something. plus, that way you could also refund entry fee, or part of it.

Before I was into audio I use to do ALOT of skateboarding competitions. At every contest you would always win either shoes, boards, trucks, clothes, ect and even money. You could pay 20 dollars to enter a contest and walk away with 500 dollars if you win. I found it weird when I got into audio having to pay 100 dollars at some of these big contest and only walk away with a trophy. Trohpies are nice and all but...
