i have two NPT swivel air tool fittings to use as tweeter mounts, but they aren't tight enough to support the weight...


other members added o-rings or other materials to increase friction and allow for fucntional use, explained here: Tweeter Spheres - pics and examples


for the CDT tweeters I used a continuous ring of foam weatherstripping on the inside of the PVC cap to friction fit the tweeter. it holds it well and you don't see any mounting hardware.

you can ask the members that used them and had to modify them. if you think about it - they are supposed to swivel easily for their normal use. the swivel ball isn't tight so the tweeter would sag down. you have to make the swivel much harder to turn.

i thought about a setscrew - but drilling through that would require tools i don't posess currently.

Sears sells them for like $10

the threaded side would go into the pillar. the smooth end would get glued into the sphere/cap.

i prever my method using threaded rod - it holds well and isn't bulky. you just have to get the angle right the first time!

i may try the thread rod for aesthetics, the best angle is out from the a pillars and pointed towards the driver correct?

I aim mine at the rear c-pillars. So driver side is a bit off-axis to me, passenger is pointed at me. This helps with IID and HRTF. So you lose some level on the closer one... by design.

Best to experiment with Velcro first, then finalize with an angle.

did you ever finish the big 3, I was having issues locating my power wire from my alt to batt! great build log, when i get some funds Ill surely gut my honda sedan as well!

i just cut the ring terminal down to do it, i will be doing it in the next couple of days so look for it, its a BIT3H to do and the ac lines run right in the way of the alternator so its a really tight squeeze and the alternator bolt and area is tiny, i will show all the pics once i do it.

Forgot to post this, covered the rear side panels that had the huge holes, noticeable difference in noise, but not much for the effort, still worth it. covered with rammat on the inside and a mass loaded vinyl type sheet on the outside.

Well the box is started and taking forever to do, im starting to freak out i have 2 days left before i leave for college well actually i leave thurs night....



The to do list:
1. Finish Box
2. Carpet Box
3. Wire Subs and Install
4. Install Speaker Grills on box
5. Wire both amps and mount both amps/create amp mounts
6. Clean up all the wires
7. Finish Deadening car
8. Run 0ga from alt to bat
9. Put clay under the mids in door
10. Make tray under wheel well for the jack and stuff
11. Put car back together and test for rattles
12. Fix any rattles/take car apart again to fix rattles
13. Repeat 11
14. Repeat 12
15. Infinite loop from 11-14
16. Infinite loop ends once no more rattles exist so never.
17. Tweeter Swivel Mounts and PVC mounts (if i have enough time which i wont....
18. PACK EVERYTHING FOR COLLEGE.... (not needed car comes first right?)

nice job so far man just a for warning alts on these **** balls i have an 01 and my alt blew 2 weeks ago i beleive they are only 90 amps or something stupid like that
