My latest box build

I have never shared any of my builds on here so I figured I would share my most recent box build. Its nothing too special though.

The goal was to make a good sounding daily ground pounder to make it easy to resell locally.

It comes out to 2.98 cu/ft tuned to 31.66hz. It sounds great and plays well into the mid to low 20s. The sub is an MTX Thunder 8000 15 svc 4.


On a sidenote, I picked up these clamps halfway through the build for stupid cheap. You can get them for $10.40ea before tax if you use the 20% off coupon thats distributed practically everywhere. Oh, and they have a lifetime warranty. http://www.harborfreight.com/hand-to...amp-92490.html

I know its nothing special that will rattle the pictures off your neighbors walls but where is the love :(

Apparently every build here has to be DD or Sundown or multiple 18s in a wall or something expensive and massive to tickle everyones jollies.

I like how you secured the internal ends of the ports, for some reason, i never thought of that. but nice box

I like Harbor Freight. :p:

Me and my buddy got a 6.5 hp engine for a go kart from there for like $80...they have some pretty cheap stuff there.

I kinda of stole the idea from a build I saw on here lol. I forget who it was but they did 2 dd 1510s in a single cab truck.

I've had a lot of good results with their older stuff. There's a lot of it that pops up for real cheap on craigslist around here.

I think this is my favorite MTX sub so far. SQ far exceeded my expectations. I wish I had more power to give it- I'm giving it 534rms before rise. Its got a 2.5 in 8 layer coil rated for 500, so it will easily handle more.

my first system was a pair of the thunder 6000 12s in a sealed box. sounded nice and got decently loud on a few hundred watts a piece. Think I gave $50 bucks for them.

Not a bad looking box. If you plan to sell it locally it would make a much better box than a nooby prefab for someone. Plus make some monies too.

A year ago I picked up 3 6000 12s for $60 and made a sealed box for them and sold them to a friend. I was surprised how loud they got for only 9.4mm of xmax, they were getting 1100 before rise.

Yea thats what I have been doing. Its a nice way to make a few extra bucks and gain experience. I got 4 10ft long sections of thin wall pvc for free so I figured I might as well start using it haha.

Yeah the more boxes you build the quicker, easier, and better the boxes become. I still learn and improve and I have build a ton of boxes.

Looks good, I actually liked my MTX 8000 12's I had in one of my old trucks...they were pretty decent

I like this man, nice and clean. What type of bolts did you use for binding posts?

1 1/2in long 10-24 pan head machine screws and wing nuts and some washers. Basically something that would fit through the ring terminals I had, with washers to provide solid contact throughout.

does the type of metal the bolt is matter much?
