95 Mustang 5.0 Build Log

Okay Guys, I am going for an SQ build. This thread will be added to for a very long time, but it is a single thread. Mods will appreciate that. Any advise is appreciated as well.

System Plan:
Boston Neo type M ambient tweets for center channel
Focal Utopia Be 3-way components for front stage (woofers in doors mid and tweet in fabbed kick)
Morel EM428 4" midrange for the rear fill
Focal Ultimo 12" down fire in trunk suspended enclosure

I began with gutting the whole car (with the exception of the dash) and adding approx 25-35% 80 mil Fat Mat per surface area. Basically I filled all of the hollow cavities with a two part closed cell foam, this is the same foam that is used in sound proof rooms in sound studios, and in hearing testing booths. MLV with with 3/8" CCF was applied over the floors, doors and roof.

The very large cavities were filled with R-19 fiberglass insulation. All products were weighed before install. less than 100 lbs of material was installed and total cost was less than 200.00.

Now that the sound is somewhat under control, with the exception of the seams, I wanted to use as little of the OE wiring as possible.

All wiring, with the exception of the power and ambient tweet wire, is Ixos professional grade (11 awg twisted pair). Power is 0 awg stinger pro series O2 free. Ambient tweet is 12 awg O2 free stinger. I will be making my own RCAs for the front stage and will be using pre made RCAs for subs and door subs.

To achieve a "center" channel with out hacking into the dash I have decided to use the Mach 460 tweeter location for the ambient tweet location. Not yet completed, these tweets will have sandstone resistors placed on them for proper tuning. Lord knows they will me too bright with out them!

Coming along nicely. I wish I had another car so I could gut this one and properly deaden/rewire. I need new carpet/pretty much every interior panel since it's been taken apart so many times. I have plans of having a custom plexi Glass Roof fabbed up too. I should've started a build log long ago, but I never take pics. Anyways, subscribed and can't wait to see the finishe product. I almost went all Focal, but got a better deal on the Hertz stuff (my 3" mid/tweet passive combo is on backorder though).
