Throw some threaded rod in there for bracing. The rod can help prevent it from flexing both in and out if you put nuts/washers on both sides. Will be a bit more sturdy than the dowels

and while Im not a huge kicker fan, CVRs get loud for what they are, and you have some cone area working for you so I imagine its pretty loud..nice build
