Re: ID8 Transmission line
i may be confused on how t lines work but are they supposed to be sealed? or does your box have an exit that i'm mising? are they not long a port with area equal to driver cone area quarter length of wavelength of drivers fs?
loooks very nice btw. would like to dabble in one myself soon.

The exit is that hole in front of the woofer. While I personally would have chosen the exit to have a bit more displacement from the woofer's zero plane, Imma knows what the **** he's doing and I'll assume it's fine. The goal of a transmission line enclosure is to manipulate the phase of the backwave of the speaker which is normally 180 degrees out of phase with the front wave. The science behind them is more reserved to a PM later since I don't have time though.
OP, unless you added more, I don't think that's enough batting in there at all.
Re: ID8 Transmission line
they have the front of the box like that to add to overall port length nothing more :) thats an extra 30+ inches of port.
if the speaker was on the outside that box wouldnt have been possible :)

 No, the problem is that I forgot that this is a car audio forum. I've never made a TL for a car before because they take too much space. I do, however, have 5 or 6 TLs where size is not as much of an issue and you can terminate the line away from the cone :)
Re: ID8 Transmission line
I'll try adding more poly fill, Immacomputer said to add a little and that looked like a little to me lol. I"ll try and reach my hand in there to add more. I'll take another pic of the front, its a little bigger than the actual sub.
Re: ID8 Transmission line
A little more fill would be more optimal. Build looks good! You should give it a listen in a vehicle and see how it sounds. I'm really happy with my True Bass subs in mine and they really sound like the most musical subs I've ever owned.
The front of the line is terminated that way to add a mass loading effect and to drive the line with the front wave as well. Those lead to increased bottom end, increased sensitivity, and increased power handling. The opening at the front should be around 20% less surface area than the Sd+Sl to give it that loading effect.

weighs about 72lbs.
Hey Immacomputer,
Someone here is selling an 8" same as yours, will it work in this box? I was comparing specs to my sub and they different so I dont want to jump in and buy it just yet.
I added a little more poly-fill.

A single True Bass 8 will sound pretty good but it won't have as great of power handling as two of them in there would. If you're looking for more bottom end, you may want to look at the room or placement in the room. Try it out in a car and see what kind of response you get as that ID should be similar sounding to the two I have and they are flat to 25hz easy (songs like Put on and Night Bass play very flat to the ear).
Re: ID8 Transmission line
Artists of those songs? I am only looking for one, the sub looks a lot beefier than mine so I'm Guessing it should handle more power, I do really like my ID8 though.
I recently got my ipod and havent put any rap/hip hop songs, which have the most bass. Except for Atmosphere, but they aren't known for bass-ee songs. I did like how "Song about a friend"-Atmosphere sounded, one of those pause then bass, pause then bass songs, low and high. Gonna start right now getting some bassier songs.
Re: ID8 Transmission line
nice job man i've always wanted to tackle a t-line
