The TBS 8s have excellent parameters for horn loading. Qts of like .3, BL ~14, Fs = 37.5hz, and a Vas of like 10l. The line is tuned with a straight 1/4 wave frequency of 30hz or about 35hz taking it as an expanding transmission line (most people who build tapped horns just take the straight line 1/4 wave frequency). I was concerned about equal loading and the semi-circle should help it, not hurt it. One driver is basically firing into a relative half space and the other is into a quarter space. The one in half space would have less loading on it but it also has part of the line in front of it which will create more of a load for it. The semi-circle helps alleviate that and allows for a smoother pressure transfer like having a flare on a port. The driver placement isn't optimal but it should be fine. If I had unlimited depth, I would have mounted them differently but I was confined to a 14x14x47 volume to work in.
Made some progress today:
It all seems to be going together well and I'm almost to the routing phase. I am going to mount the front panel in a little while and then I have to cut the holes in the baffle. Once that is done, I'll put the top on and then cut out the semi circle on the front panel. I should have it finished tonight, hopefully.

Thanks, I'm sure these little guys will have all the output I could want but I'm more curious about their range and sub 30hz extension.
Here is the front panel being clamped and the middle in mocked up so I could draw a line where it's supposed to go for quick placement when I get glue on it.
Now it's time to bring out my dreaded router. I hate this part of every box I build as I feel like my life is constantly in danger using this piece of ****.
Actually, off to home depot to buy a new drill battery as mine has finally quit taking a charge. Booo...

I got the internal baffle painted and glued in place and now the top is currently being clamped. Once it finishes drying, I'm going to route out the mouth half circle.
After I get the half circle cut, I'm going to drop the drivers in and test them out in my room and see how they sound. It should give me an idea of what they will be like in car.

Feedback Thread, if you've dealt with me, please leave some!
I am sad to see you didn't get another teg....... It's fine as long as you got a 240 hatch.
I am looking forward to hearing how these do and off what power.
This build is looking great!
However, my naivety shows here. What exactly are the benefits of this tapped horn design? I'm not familiar with it, what exactly are the benefits?
Everything getting reworked!
I'm going to be powering these off of an Orion XTR500 which should give over 500rms for the pair.
I got it all finished up and only need to sand, round everything over, and paint it up.
Here it is standing next to a pre-fab sealed box for two Alpine Type-E 12s:
I don't know what that streak is as I can't see it in person. It doesn't matter though as I'm going to be painting the inside too.
Right now it's randomly standing in the middle of my room hooked up to my 250w plate amp and sounds pretty **** good. Near field, it sounds like it rolls off around 35hz, which makes sense, but at my computer chair I was getting extension down to 25hz with ease. I would like to hear them under my bed where my Exodus DPL 10 is (tapered transmission line tuned around 22hz) to get a direct comparison but that would be a ***** to do. This thing is ****ing heavy. I haven't been able to play much since it's late but I played "The Boogieman" from Bass from the Krypt and it handled the sub 30hz material just fine, especially with the horrible FR I get from my sound card and receiver (both start to roll off around 40hz). It would sound awesome in the Integra and I am betting it will sound pretty **** good in the 240!
I've just listened through Pink Floyd's "Welcome to the Machine," "Have a Cigar," and "Wish You were here" and they all sound very nice too. They have a dry and punchy sound but without sacrificing on bottom end. I think I'm going to be pretty happy with these. Pearl Jam's "Black" sounds really nice as well and they blend in extremely well with my fronts, even with their awkward positioning.
