Re: ejschultz' Build Log
I'm going to be gluing them into place from the rear once I get them positioned how I want them with the lettering on the tweeters. I don't want to mess up the vinyl work by getting them out of there. Plus, I do like the way these tweeters sound. They get a little harsh at higher volumes but it's nothing that I can't fix with tuning.

Re: ejschultz' Build Log
What kind of green tubes do you have in your trunk?
-
Re: ejschultz' Build Log
I've got 2 12" cold cathode kits (4 12" tubes total) from oznium.com. They're very bright. They're wired into my factory mercury switch so when the trunk opens, they turn on.

Re: ejschultz' Build Log
Awesome I am going to have to find that switch in my trunk in my Mercury

Re: ejschultz' Build Log
Depending on the year, you might not have one. I think it was sometime around 95 or 96 when manufacturers stopped using mercury switches. You still may be able to tap into your factory wiring to get them to come on when the trunk opens up.

Re: ejschultz' Build Log
And here you go. I decided to skip school today and instead do this. I'm extremely happy with the outcome. Oh, and I turned my box around the other way and wow, it made a world of difference. I get a little windshield flex now and more back window flex. :D

Re: ejschultz' Build Log
All I've got left to do is to put some deadener in my trunk. After that, this build will be finished. Then, I'll be on to my new DD build, which I still have yet to start. I've got the vehicle for that, but I'm getting it ready to put a system into. I had to replace the back carpet and possibly a rear seat because a battery exploded in there.

Re: ejschultz' Build Log
Oh, and by the way, I am 3 way active now. I figured if I'm going to go that high with the tweets, I may need some additional tuning options that passive setups do not allow.

Re: ejschultz' Build Log
Specs on that build:
1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee TSi
Alpine CDA-9855
Kicker ZX-200.2
Alpine MRD-M605
Alpine Amp Link for the 605
Pioneer Premier TS-D520C
Alpine Type X 1043D
1.3 cubes net @ 29 Hz
Rockford Fosgate wiring
Kicker Battery terminals (of which I didn't post any pics)
I spent a total of $440 on this stuff. I'm not counting stuff that I traded that I had sitting around that wasn't getting used or stuff that I had sitting around that I did use in the build. Not too shabby for a budget build.

Re: ejschultz' Build Log
It beats the hell out of what I'm currently running, man. :)

Re: ejschultz' Build Log
It beats the hell out of the nothing I had in my last 2 daily drivers.

Re: ejschultz' Build Log
right, right.
You should get yourself some of those nice *** a-pillars for the Jeep...
-
Re: ejschultz' Build Log
Haha, the Jeep has a factory location for the tweeters so I don't feel the need to go that route.
