AA Avalanche 15 Enclosure build log

The enclosure is going to be a transmission line (pretty compromised design due to size limitations) for an AA Avalanche 15 going into am '99 Integra hatch.

    The sub:

    The design:

My router is ghetto/falling apart and it kind of chunked a few spots but nothing unworkable:

    Starting to go together:

That's where it sits right now as I needed to come out of the sun for a few minutes. I still need to route the top, glue on the side panels, put in the 45s, and then squish that ***** together.

Will update as more work gets done...

Actually, the two front pieces are 3/8" lower than the rest because I was not planning on routing the edges, just the internals. The top will be routed to accept the 3/8" that is sticking up currently and everything will sit flush. I've made a couple other boxes/cabinets like this and it makes assembly a breeze.

oh i see, I just ask because usually all the internals are same height and you do the same for the top as you did the bottom but to each their own

I would do that but it would require much more routing. I'm terrified of my router as it really is falling apart. I wanted to stick to the bare minimum of routing but I also needed a way to easily clamp down the internal line and make sure it's exactly where I wanted it. It's easier to route than to cross clamp across the center and I don't use screws so I went with just the internal line pieces being routed.

To further explain my fear of my router look at this picture:

Those red circles are missing screws. One of them fell out while I was routing and the bit shot it out into the yard. That could have seriously injured me and I got very lucky. That thing is the devil. Craftsman wanted $80 in parts to fix it... yea... gg bullshit lifetime warranty.

When the screw fell out, it scared the **** out of me and I ****ed up one of the sections too. I have putty drying in it right now to fix it.

Here are a few more progress shots:

i didt think a transmission line for a 15 would fit in there after building one for a 12 in rsx hatch..

how long have you had those clamps? hope mine dont get rusty like that and i live further south and close to the beach.

The line is pretty compromised and not as large as it should be. I needed to fit my bike in there and so I had to cut back on the depth quite a bit. I've had the clamps about 3 years now and at one point, some got put outside in the rain. That pretty much ****ed a couple of them over. Keep them lubed with tool oil and you shouldn't have a problem with them rusting.

I finished construction a while back and have been playing with it for a while but I haven't gone into any finishing until I can get it sounding how I want it. Currently, it's really strong from 25-70hz but it is lacking a little bit below there (something my av12 didn't lack). I'm going to be making a loading panel today and I may mass load the line to see if that helps.

The sound quality of the this driver is amazing though. I have it tuned pretty flat and run it at a 50hz @ 6dB crossover and it blends extremely well without drawing any attention to the rear. The bass is really up front and really articulate. So far I'm impressed, but I need more in the 15-25hz range.
