Range Rover Classic + Havoc 18 Build

I have a 1991 RRC and am going to install a Ascendant Audio Havoc 18 in 4-5 cubes sealed powered by a SAZ-3000d

    HU is an Alpine Ida-X100

Front stage as of now is: 4inch powerbass coax in for real fillage and 4inch PG Tantrum Comps all powered by a JBL 80.4 (60rms x4)

For the car so far i have the whole roof covered in SS damplifier and have filled the gaps between the structural supports and the roof w/ expanding foam... so my roof is pretty sturdy (sounds like mdf when you tap it )

Have also covered the rear lower tailgate with damplifier

I enjoy the sound of pressure

Re: Range Rover Classic + Havoc 18 Build

Here is some more Damplifier and Spectrum Sludge that im going to use for doors and tire-wells

I am working on my doors (no pics @ the moment) and have covered the outer sheet metal with damplifier and used grease and weather stripping to stop annoying rattles....

The inner door already has some oem factory sound-deadening that I cant remove so im just working around it with damplifier

The shatty thing is that when I was taking out the back carpet I just so happened to find a TON OF RUST!

But i was not to concerned because I could still install the amps ect....

I am mounting the amps under the back seats and when I took out the back seats I found MORE RUST!

I enjoy the sound of pressure

Re: Range Rover Classic + Havoc 18 Build

Then when i took out the drivers and passenger side floor mats and sound-deadening to run the cables to where the amps go I find MORE RUST

I have cut the factory sound-deadening off b/c it was molded and wet

So now I have been working on finding all the rust b/c i have an appointment to get this taken care of

The center cubby has been removed so as well

I enjoy the sound of pressure

Re: Range Rover Classic + Havoc 18 Build

IIRC those Range Rovers rust easily.

I would take care of it like you said you were before it gets worse, because it will for sure.

Probably was taken off road a lot and got wet and just saturated in there, causing a lot of the rust.

Damp looks good and nice equipment. Subscribed even if I don't like these year Range Rovers.

Come on man, you could have at least gotten a decent rack lol. Maybe a Safety Devices if you're lucky enough. If not, RoverRacks make them to their exact specifications. But those are the BEST Range Rovers to date offroad. I just recently got a 2004 Disco SE7 that I plan to put a single IA 21" in.

@ Big Bang, LR's don't rust easily at all. ALOT of their body is made of aluminum. I know this is the case for newer LRs but not so much about the older ones.

Re: Range Rover Classic + Havoc 18 Build

I have seen many older range rovers rust from the inside out.

Newer ones, I don't see many of anymore.

The aluminum is a major part of the problem Galvanic corrosion between the steel and aluminum. Moisture certainly helps, but this is a design issue.

wasn't aware of that. But I love LRs for their security. Once you secure lock the newer ones, none of the internal door handles or the internal unlock buttons work. So basically, you can't open ANY doors.

Yep, the back tailgate has a gasket that leaks and will let water go through the rear lower tailgate and it has been rusting the floor where the water leaks
    Thanks!

The rear tailgate is a well known flaw and is about the only exterior part not made of aluminum

    Pics of the disco?

The issue of rust in the front of the car is due to a Damm rubberized undercoating DONT BUY THESE

They get water and dirt trapped between the metal and cause rust
