Yeah, I never know there were so many...I just saw that winISD had an option for a 6th order BP like this, so I tinkered around with some numbers and gave it a shot. I certainly hope it does better than my ported box...I'll be happy with that.

looks nothing like all the others, don't 6th orders have front chamber ported into the rear chamber or vice versa

otherwise nice build, and use of tile

Here's a quick little page on different kinds of 6th and 8th order bandpass boxes...some of the 8th order names get confusing: http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/boxes6.asp

The technical term for that box is a parallel tuned 6th order.

The ported box inside a ported box 6th order is a series tuned.

Re: RyanM923's Dual Reflex 6th Order BP build...whew.

whats it like designing something like that? I mean is it like designing two separate ported boxes? Or does the tuning/airspace of each side have alot to do with the other side? Also what's the result/goal of doing a box like this vs a more standard bandpass or ported box?

Looks good btw hope it meets your goals

It's like designing two different ported boxes...pretty easy to do but just takes a lot of tinkering to get the air space and port size that you want.

The purpose of this is that tuning each chamber fairly close to one another(within 10hz as opposed to normal 6th order boxes where they're tuned ~30hz apart) is that it gives me a huge peak in the response curve, right where I want it.

Normal 6th order boxes can be designed to be VERY flat across a wide range...pretty much any range you need for music. The only problem is that there's a good amount of group delay with a 6th order box, which is why most people don't like them for musical listening.

Industrial grade subfloor adhesive, the strongest stuff I've ever used(including titebond and liquid nails). It even bonds wet/frozen wood.

So the sub is sealed in there forever? I don't see a way to get it out.
