When I did my last recone I just took a folder, cut it down into some pieces of equal size that were roughly the diameter of the gap (which you have to make sure you clean out) and place them equally around between the coil. Just one step at a time, shim it out, push on the cone a little and feel how tight it is, shime some more, check again, and get it as tight and even as possible. Spray some activator and your good to go.

My first recone was scratchy as ****, I didn't even shim it. Just slapped the cone in and hit it with the glue. It was only noticeable at lower volumes, so I just kept it turned up.
