Hey we all have our moments lol. Live and learn and as long as your learning your doing good, least thats how I look at it. More than one way to skin a cat. Just wish this thing didn't need soo many holes to run all the wires lol, starting to look like swiss cheese.

Re: 05 F350 Build log (some fiberglass work, computer, and system) Many pictures!!

Things seem to be going frustratingly slow but I got a few new pics. Been picking away at this install doing a little something every night from when I get home around 6:30 till it gets dark around 9. Got my 1/0 ground run with split loom and 100% covered in electrical tape. Got my last RCA, power wire and speaker wire in the mail today so I should have ALL my wire. Also got the rear view camera mocked up (installed by no wires run.) Tonight I got the VGA and 2 USB extension cables run from the back and into the dash along with a of the speaker wires along with finishing up the power wiring on the amp rack. Also got my mounting into the truck figured out and fabbed up.

    Here are some pics.

1/0 Kicker wire wrapped in split loom (yes I know certainly not pro quality but I think it will work) which is wrapped 100% in 3M Super 33+ electrical tape.

Ground and power wire entering the cab, was nice that Ford left 3 grommets big enough to accept 1/0 in the back of the cab.

Mocking up the mounting of the amp rack and cutting the power/ground wires to length. Note the pile of wires in the right corner of the amp rack, all those gotta get run to the dash and thats not even all of them

Almost what it should look like when its finally installed. The top metal cross bar will get black carpet to make it match the amp rack, and all the wires over in the far corner should be buried somewhere in the truck and run to their respective locations.

Rear view camera peeking out between the tailgate and the bumper, should be protected fairly well here and serve its purpose whenever I feel like using it.

and what I have to look forward to sorting out. I am thinking the wiring is the hardest part of this entire install, seems like every time I turn around I need to run another wire for something.

Hoping to get the amp rack and speakers installed this weekend, then I can work on sorting out the computer and getting it up and running along with fabbing in the screen and other components. Going to pick up some 08 Super Duty sail panels that have the tweeter mount in them so I can mount the tweeters in a clean factory looking location.

    3M super 33 + FTW

looking very good too. may i ask though why the power and ground wire are brought up under the seat and around to the box instead of into the box directly? doesnt matter just curious. Keep up the good work!!

I am honestly confused, not sure what you are refering to.

Thanks man. The main reason on the power and ground being the way they are is I used factory grommets in the floor, when the seat is in place you won't see them, unless you look hard, and all wires enter/exit the box at the 2 far ends. Only the power/ground will be even remotely visible, the rest of the wire all exits at the sides where the cab floor slopes down to the door sills, and the wire will go right under the door sills. If that makes sense lol. You can kinda see in the last pic the holes in the floor area under the distro blocks, this is where the wire enters/exits. I would have liked to get the power/ground run a bit neater but I was lazy and didn't want to drill the floor and make up my own grommets.

Yeah man. As before, things are looking great. Can't wait to get the pictures of my new rims and tires, and all the install work I've been doing, up in a forum.

The amp might be upside down so that all of the same wires run to the center of the amp rack... other wise he'd have power running to the center, and one of the ends... this way it all goes to one place...
    i think...

Ding Ding Ding, also it would put the tuning/rca side of the amp right up next to the outside of the cab where I wouldn't easily be able to read what I Was turning nor see where I was turning the knobs to without using a mirror or something.

I had asked Jacob about getting some sort of a stencil kit for the Sax 100.4 lettering but I guess I will have to make my own, if you notice the new amps have them mirrored on both corners. Guess a lot of people were asking for a similar setup.

I'm not exactly sure on the model number and sadly its not my saw but my dads. Its a Bosch 10" saw, supposed to be a portable but its a bit heavy least compared to the makita we used to have. The heavy is really nice though once its setup at the job, can rip full sheets of MDF with one person without too much trouble. Ripped a few 60" x 48" pieces for this project without a hiccup. Plus the table extends for up to 24" rips I believe which is nice, and as you can see it makes for a perfect work table lol.

Re: 05 F350 Build log (some fiberglass work, computer, and system) Many pictures!!

Well I been working on this pretty much every night when I get home from work. Past three nights I have been up till 11pm or later trying to get as much done as I can and then put it all back together so I can drive it the next day. Doesn't feel like I am getting much done but I will let the pictures tell the story.

I came up with a way to bolt it into the truck so it won't be relying 100% on the seat to hold it in place. Folded over some of the metal I used for the computer area, then screwed through it into the cab and into the mdf. Its also bolted to the floor using some of the factory bolt holes for the junk I pulled out.

Carpeted the visible sheet metal so it would blend in with the amp rack.

Test fit, starting to see the final product.

Here we go, seat is in, amp rack is in and now all I gotta do is start running wires and get it to make some sound.

Its a tight fit, almost a bit too tight

Started fiddling around with mounting the screen and such in the dash. Still a ways off before I start this part of the project but nice to see how things are going to look.

Today I got the speakers in and all the wires run. I haven't had much listening time but its sounding pretty good. Ended up running into a snag though, one of the crossovers is messed up, seems something in the tweeter network is screwed up, so after trying everything I could I ended up bypassing the crossover for just the tweeters and set up the 100.4 so the tweeters won't die playing some low notes. Still gotta fiddle around with mounting the tweeters though, right now they are taped up on my sail panels, going to try the top of the door panel and maybe a few other spots as well as some more tuning. Gotta deaden the doors in the future too.

Oh and I put in my order for the new mags, should be here sometime around the end of August or beginning of September. Hopefully I will have a nice home for them by the time they arrive.
