horns havent really changed that much since like 94. the new rage is the neo but not released yet. there are minor driver differences but nothing that i would call night and day. the biggest diff though are the bodies imo between the mini and the regulars

they will talk up the neo but to tell u the truth you gotta mess with a horn before you can judge it or them i think ud be fine the neo's use what looks to be a b and c driver. might be a little easier to install but a cd-2 is hard to beat. its smoother out of the box than the cd-3 and more effiecent than either cd-1 and i like the id horn body best even over the viritas...
any experience with the illusions? i would ask squeak cuz he has em, but hes elsewhere apparently.

only car outside his (he lives by me) i seen run them modded the horn body to sound different (wasnt to make fit) i really wouldnt worry about either or as far as quality i do think you would get more help from id though.
ahh ok, thanx, uve been much help as usual. :)

how much louder can those cd2 horns get compared to my infinity perfect 6.1 components which are getting 150 watts each?

Probably a lot, horns get loud.
hey audiolife, how low do u think i could cross these over at?

u would have to go fully active or have madisound build u a custom passive xover also. 150w to horns is too much, you'd go deaf. horns are really efficient.

horns would smoke your component set pretty bad with 1/10th the power you have. i had 30 watts going to my cd-3's in the horn throat unfiltered i was doing over 150 db and mid to hi 140's up by the dash NO sub (NO FILTER ON THE MIC)
i wouldnt go under 800 hz as an x over point my fav was 1000 most will say under a 1000 but i found foot prints at under 1000hz in my car meaning it started becoming directional but that has alot to do with the mid basses i assume peaks and such.
holy crap the ID's just jumped past $200. time to bid on the illusions.

Sorry, I had the stomach flu most of Wed and yesterday
I've had multiple people tell me that the IA's have a better horn body design than the ID's. But, I haven't heard the ID's to compare. They use the Radian 450PB compression driver.
Anyways, if you have any questions on the IA's let me know......
