My current enclosure is 5"Wide as you can see in the my sig im an SPL competitor. What is the lowest width i can go for SPL?

you want as much port area as possible

its not just port width that matters, its the combined area of the port. how the hell can your box be 5 inches wide?

suuuuuuuure...

you have to test man, nobody is gonna have a clue...the meter is the only resourse that doesnt lie...some subs/installs like alot...some dont

yes, this is true, but in general, the more port area, the more SPL

you can certainly over do it though.

if you can get bbp6 and learn how to use it correctly, it would serve as a good guide, but only a guide.

i've heard you dont want to go bigger than the sd of the woofers

sure does look like a lot of port area to me

look at no-wall boxes in dbdrag...alot of people go from 18"s to 15"s simply because they need more port....

you can only learn by testing...like i just said, in NW you want ***-loads..but in street alot of people are using aeroports which certainly dont have shat for area...

edit: thats a NW1-2 set-up...^^

this is purely theoretical, but the actual difference in SPL should be somewhat accurate.

Pink- 12 XXX, 1600 watts, tuned 40 Hz, 4 ft. ^3, 68.75 in. ^2 port area.

Orange- 12 XXX, 1600 watts, tuned 40 Hz, 4 ft. ^3, 125 in.^2 port area.

its a tradeoff because of the enclosure is the biggest I can fit in my neons trunk. bigger port or less cub ft or other way around. Can I have to port outside of the enclosure instead of having it inside?? Or like half inside and half outside???

yes..we run our aeroports out of the box...

try a smaller box...do you have access to a meter besides at shows?

i know you said it theoretical, im not trying to be a ****, but that doesnt account for impedance rise..which is a big factor when messing with volume/port legnth/port area/box placement...

those programs are useless...like i said, get on a meter

thats the problem, enclosure to small and need more cub ft, but its the biggest enclosure that will fit in the trunk.

i actually think bbp6 accounts for impedance rise IIRC.

they recommend 2.4 cub each, i only have around 1.6cub ft each, I have the 2500wrms to them but they scream for more, i want to make the subs a little more efficient.

once again, not trying to be a ****..but, that'd be impossible really...so many variables...
