if you were to build a new house, what if anything, could be done to the walls while being built to have better sound, etc. I know it is kinda a vague question, but my dad is finisihing up his house and wants to make one room just for all his stereo stuff.

Do 2 layers of sheetrock.
The first one is put up regular, the next sheet put up backwards.
It deadenes the wall and makes it soundproof.

Do some Google searches for audio room treatments...find out what the soundstage is doing in-room, and what can be done to account for it.

Jmac...sometimes you need to work on your sarcasm ;)

What if there's an ambulance stuck behind you when you're watching a movie ?

If there's an ambulance stuck behind my house, well then...my condolences to whoever's inside.

But if you make your house soundproof, how will sound get in ?

Do trees make sound?

Do bears **** in the woods?

Hmm...

;)
