i wanna build a pair of full range speakers (jim had the fostexs) and i need some guidance. what is a good driver?

what do ya wanna spend? dayton is cheap but ok, TB is good, and peerless / morel are top quality stuff.

not much at all. i already have 3 pairs of speakers, but i want a full range pair to see how they sound. looking at 50 bucks for both drivers, preferably less. just wanna see what i can do with cheap speakers

according to this site: http://www.zaphaudio.com/audio-speaker18.html , the hi-vi b3s's are cheap and real good. i want to get a couple once they come back in stock at parts express.

yes they are VERY excellent. i am using them as mid/tweets in a pair. i was thinking about those alot..
Whatever route you choose, a good backloaded folded horn or mass-loaded transmission line are worthy of consideration.
The drivers I used (Fostex FE127E's) were around $36 apiece...

why rear loaded
Better midrange dispersion.
The same reason why I went with a bipole design for my bookshelves - makes the speakers a little harder to place for imaging, but firing the horn backwards gives you an apparent gain and makes for a more "diffuse" response.

ok that makes sense. any designs?
Designs? None really, although http://www.omegaloudspeakers.com are commercially available versions of what I built.
Just go by the manufacturer's recommendations and what they say on DIYaudio (some guy did a nice writeup on a 15L BR cabinet for a FE127E, I incorporated some of his ideas in my project)...
