That's right fellas, my center console is all finished. Actually, I finished it like a week ago, but I've been busy with work and school and stuff. It came out good, I think.

Here it is before the I started painting, all sanded and smooth.

Heres the first layer, it's a textured paint that I used to get a kinda ruff surface.

And now here it is after the color layer.

The ultimate test, success!

And here it is in my car.

So what does every body think? I kinda think it looks like a big chunk of baby poop. I'm thinking about giving it a darker shade of brown, but only on top. Kinda like a two tone thing.

Tell me what you think.

Awsome job, what is that you used to finish it? I'm trying to do something similar on a box going into the bed of a Chevy Avalanche, gonna do it in black.

my HU could not fit in the space were the originial is withough hacking up the dash, it's too old i guess. So i left it it there. Plus, it'll still be able to play though the stock speakers (which i'll leave in there too). That way I can play the stock radio, then the stereo and derectly compair which one is better, and by better i mean waaaaayyyyyy better.

and the textured paint is callled textured millstone and it's by decorative effects.

I'd guess about 65 hours (alot of sanding).

What color do you think I should go with?

very simple and clean... not too many hard angles and stuff... very nice job...

very nice job. If i were u I would make it lighter rather than darker. Or actually it depends I gess. If u make it darker it will match the regular console. If u make it lighter it will match the carpet. maybe darker would be better.

I was thinking the color of the plastic under the dash, that dark brown chocolaty color. What do you think about that?

now that I look at it it would definatly look better if it matched the regular console (Chocolate Brown). That would make it look more stock and cleaner.

bring it to an upholstery shop.

I'm guessing it would cost a bunch of money, which I don't have. Besides, I want the install to be done all my me and no one else, unless a frend helps or something.

I think it looks good as is. It gracefully blends with everything instead of only matching one shade of brown. Or maybe that made no f'in sense.....

Anyways, very nice job! But lose the Miller.....bleh!
Now if it was a Crown bottle it would be different ;)

what did you use for the cupholders?? how did you glass them in...?? very curious..

For the cupholders, I cut them out of a cheep plastic thing you lay on your floor I bought from autozone. I them used JBweld (the best stuff for plastic, but still not perfect) to glue them to some plastic I cut out to surround them and make a square shape. Then I did the same with a HU adapter plate thing and a nail tray. I did a couple layers of bondo and that was how I made the top of it.

I do, but they're all on my other computer which doesn't have internet. I'll get them on the web someday.

I did, but I was able to fix it with many layers of bondo and kity hair. So I didn't have to redo it.
