i have infinity kappa 60.5cs components and an amp pushing 100x2 to them... i have an alpine head unit and while i love the tweeters, it seems like they are REALLY bright... when im playing at loud volumes, i have to have the bass setting at 0 and treble setting at -6 out of -7... while this sounds best to me, it just seems kinda weird that i have to set it this low?
also i have my crossover set to "flat" instead of contour.. should i be changing this?

You can try playing with the crossovers. Does the passive x-over for thoes components have a jumper in them or any othe methods of adjustment? Sometimes that's a good way to go.

The flat/contour is on teh deck or the passive x-overs?
If it's in the passives, you might give it a try.

the x-overs... thsi is what the contour option does "reduce midrange output resulting in louder percieved high frequency and bass"
so obviously this would just make the tweeters MORE bright right.

Bummer.

The reason is because Alpine has a useless Treble center frequency ...
meaning? in laman's terms

It doesn't do much to reduce the frequencies which cause the harshness ...
well theres 4 freq options in the treble setting... 10k 12.5 15.k and 16.5 k
which one should i have it on to have the most effect on the harshness

10 kHz, but it still won't do a whole lot ... :p:
The center frequencies are far too high ...
do you have any idea if the flat or contour setting is better?
