my friend is wanting to keep his stock HU in his 04 chevy crew cab. He wants to put a line out converter to power a kx600.1 for 2 10" w3's and a lunar 40x2 to power his mids and highs.
The guy at the local audio shop said that he doesn recommend hooking up the mids n high amp to a line out converter bc of high freq. or some bs. This guy has done setups like this before and said that the mids n highs get louder but they dont sound clear.

Is there anything he can do to get the mids n highs to sound clear without buying a aftermarket HU? Would low/high pass filters do anything? :uhoh:

Well, you should use a highpass filter on the interior speakers regardless.

Use good LOCs and it will sound good. I just replaced a stock HU / LOC setup with an Alpine HU, it sounds better now, but not much.

doesnt that new JL cleansweep do just that allow you to keep your factory hu and give you lines out as well as clean up the sound a bit?

The cleansweep is A LOT more than just a simple LOC.
