I've got a question!! I've got 4 audiobahn 12's (AW1200Q's) and a Mmats amp 600watts @4 ohms/2000watts @.5 ohms. I recently entered my first show and hit a 139.2 with 2 prefab boxes stacked on top of each other facing the back of my Expedition. My and was set with the gain all the way up and the internal crossover at 88 and today I was messing around and turned my boxes around and unstacked them and also turn the crossover up to around 155-165.

What kind of difference do it make when you turn the crossover up that high? It seemed to sound 2x louder and hit 2x harder.

And what kind of difference will a custom box make? from switching from a prefab box?

Thanks for your help.

anything decently above 140 is all tiral and error, and assloads of time. the only real way is to get yourself a usb tl...build a bunch of ported boxes and expect to switch their positioning about a million+ times until u squeeze every last dB out of that truck

and also a "custom" box is a must, and if your serious about comps tune it high with lots of airspace for those subs

theres your formula, or you could get someone on here or locally to design one for you.

like i told you before, do 10-12 cubes @ 40hz with 200 square inches of port, fire the subs up and the port back. you will definately get a large gain.

I agree with moe lester about the cub ft. But id tune it higher than 40hz, maybe around 46,47hz. just my 2 cents :D

not in his expedition :)

hell, in order for me to peak at 51hz (the res freq of my explorer) i have to tune at 38 or 39
