I did my tweeters today too :) It was the first time I did it myself. I went to the shop for my last car. This time I saved $50.

Good job!

it's pretty easy if u have a stencil. i did my holes with a box cutter. i kinda went around the inside of the circle on the stencil cutting straight 1/2 inch lines; ended up making an octagon-like shape, but my sweet fit right in.

did u just have to cut the other soft layer or did u have to cut into the metal of the door? thats the reason i dont do it, my tweeter pods are pretty deep so i'd have to cut into the metal.

my car had no stock tweets (300zx). guess they didn't like tweeters in 1990. all i cut into was the vinal covered door cover. the door cover from the backside (inside; what u don't see) seemed like it was bade of some kinda compressed wood fiber or somthin, but the box cutter cut through it too. from the inside of my door u see the back of the tweeter with the wires runnin from it. no metal cuttin was involved. u could always find another spot to cut and put tweeters where metal is not an issue, unless your doors are that different from mine.
