Hey all, Illusion Audio is back in business with a brand new website and the same awesome product line.

I called them the other day and the rep said that they will start shipping products sometime in April (if all goes smoothly).

Is anybody interested in a possible Illusion Audio group buy?

I would be interested.....good luck with that though.

And I can't decide if I'm happy or upset that they are back in business. I love their products, and am glad they are readily available again, but upset that it will take away from the rarity and scarcity factor of their products (which I already own). That was part of my whole system plan.....rather rare and scarce products.

Oh well, for the prices I paid, I'm still happy :D :D Been wanting an ND-15, and now that they'll be back on the available market I just may get them :up2somet:

Call them back and tell them to work on their pricing. That'll help with sales.

Excellent drivers :thumbupw: Subs are very sound quality oriented...don't expect a ton of output, but they will have literally world-class SQ. Seriously, back in '96 Richard Clark said the ND series was one of the best subs he'd heard, and they still rank very highly today among most "professionals"

I'll be using their ND-10 series "subwoofers" as my mids (as soon as this ****ed whether warms up), and I also have two pairs of their horns and a ND-12.

I remember a few years ago reading about how good they sound, but the thing that really got me interested was the mounting depth that their drivers require....im wondering if the shallow mounting depth was for that line or if it was for all of their drivers....if they have shallow 6 1/2 or 8 inch midbass I'd be interested....squeak....do their shallow mounting drivers sound any good? ignore my question if all of their drivers are shallow mounting....thanks

6.5" mids mounting depth = 2.1"

Yes, all their drivers (well, atleast the ND series and Luccent series) are shallow mount, and include a 5.25" mid, 6.5" mid, 8" mid/sub, and 10" up to 15" subwoofers :thumbupw:

I've never personally heard any of the mids; but they are supposedly very very nice aswell. Not midbass kings, but very good sound quality wise.

I'll believe it when i see it! This news all sounds but too redundant with a lack of steam.

Not that i dont want them back, the Carbon mids and subs are the shiznit!

Is that a good thing?

Yep theres a lot of Luscent/Carbon comps thats come into a local dealer here Im going to go check them out. Pricey but seems like a better bet than the hifonics/infinity stuff that they currently have.

Just wanted to know what the scene is like. No sign of the subbies though.

If I stretch my budget I might just be able to get the Luscent 6.1 after listenign of course:)

by comparable i meant the sound quality...like other high end brands focal, morel, dls etc.

Went by the test booth they had for a quick listen... Im liking the laidback attitude of these components. Didnt have time to check out the higher end stuff. Anyway the carbons are beyond my means.

Any illusion users here? Components specifically!

i just got done installing a pair of luccent 6.5's in my doors. I found them on diyma in new condition. They replaced my too deep AA Poly's.
Good drivers.

I'm seeing LM-6's pop up.. The Luccent series 6" mid-bass's... Very very interesting! Can't find much for reviews on them, but considering them...

Looks like for a mid, the front-mounted driver would be problematic, but then again, it's getting stuffed with some care in a car-door.

Any opinions on the LM-6's specifically???

DJMan, are those the ones you picked up on diyma? The blue poly-cones?

I got me the same. Prices are going up by about a 100$ in a few months due to cost of materials. So try and pick them up now while its in stock.

yep, blueish-green. JNTAR thinks they perform much better in the mids than the Poly's did.

Hey cool! I used to know the owner as they were local years and years ago.. hell about 8 years ago! Now looks like they are based in the UK.

I did a lot of testing on the nd8 back then, was a good little driver and an even better midbass. Also messed with the 10's and 12's a lot as I had them free for testing when only the carbon series was available.. Not my favs overall but quite impressive at the time for how thin they were and the SQ was very good. But push them 1% to hard and it was chaos sounding. "cough... oz audio 250 & 300L's sounded much better side by side..... hahaha"

The one illusion product that really made me smile was there carbon 15". That was one hell of a driver. Sounded very different than the 10 & 12" model and I usually am never a fan of 15's. But that sucker was a diamond in the rough.

On thing that just came to mind as it has been so long, was mechanical noise... I remember when pushed I could hear them working quite hard.

From memory, the 10's and 12's running a single driver just did not have enough output capability and I am no bass head. I would get them just were they sounded good and could not push them any further. I never got to try any in pairs or trios but I am sure they would really shine in a multi sub setup. The 15 was a perfect balance of output and sq.

Super sweet yo! haha Hope they make it this time.
