i downloaded the OEL screensaver studio last night
and started to make some backgrounds...

i have a few questions.

1. can you make background visuals with the OEL SS???
picture to movie comes out as a movie file
text art comes out to be a movie file.
slide show comes out to be a movie
background picture comes out to be a still image

2. once you do load your own backgrounds to the HU
does it write over ALL of the backgrounds that are
pre installed... because the LKF CDR that i made only
has 1 movie, 1 background visual and a bunch of
stills... where the factory installed setup has 2 movies
4 background visuals and a bunch of pictures. you cant
load anymore onto the CDR...

3. does resetting the HU restore the old backgrounds or are
you only left with the option to load SOME of them back
via a CDR...

if i cant get the old ones back and im limiting the total amount of
backgrounds the unit can hold by adding my own it almost doesnt
seem worth it.

More importantly, can you load a **** clip as a screen saver?

you can load any .avi file or up to a 5 picture slide show...

i ended up answering my own questions by just going ahead
and trying it out...

for anyone interested... the "night driving" movie gets overwritten
the black and white moving cloud background visual gets overwritten.
all the still pictures can be overwritten...

the only way to restore them is to make a disc with the previously
overwritten files on it and load them back in...

resetting the microprocessor only resets the settings of the HU... it
doesnt restore the visuals...

you always have the same total amount of visuals...

thats kinda gay. if it wasnt for the features, i wouldnt be looking at getting one....how is it anyway?

the clarity is amazing...

after like a day the goofy screens arent that cool anymore... i restored
my dark clouds and i use that since you still see the text overlayed
on it... with movie back grounds there is no text...

theres a lot of features and a lot of tweaking that can be done... i
dont think ill be happy with it till i can switch over to "network"
mode and set it up with lows mids and highs instead of standard
mode which is a little less on tweakability...

its a hell of a lot easier to use than the 9831 i returned thats for

the text is easy to read, scrolling through an MP3 disc is flawless and

great deck... glad i upgraded...

next on the agenda... the interior...

Yep, I'm pretty much sold on the 860 myself. I keep looking at the crutchfield deal for the 9833 for 300, but the pios might drop in price, or i'll wait and get the 05.
