03-19-2005, 02:46 AM
According to Crutchfield.com and my local dealer, yes.

03-19-2005, 02:49 AM
what price does your local dealer give you???

the crutchfield price is the best I have seen.

03-19-2005, 02:51 AM
He said he will beat Crutchfield's price but I can't get any true figures out of him until it's in his hands :(

03-19-2005, 03:17 AM
holy ***** i just realized april is next month (yes im an idiot)! ahh! im excited for this 9855, it better not disappoint.

03-19-2005, 10:06 AM
whats so special about it?
what new features does it have?
whats better than the 9835?...
any links? pics?

03-19-2005, 01:52 PM
the only thing that really sets it apart from the 9835 is the looks, mainly that ipod-looking strip. other than that, theyre almost the same internally.

03-19-2005, 03:20 PM
glidetouch looks like a cool option :)

03-20-2005, 12:53 AM
glidetouch looks like a cool option :)cool concept, but for any prolonged stuff, i imagine it would be quite annoying

03-24-2005, 10:32 PM
Just bought mine today and getting it installed on saturday. Was surprised they already had it and the only reason I found out was because they were having a hard time finding the 9835 I originally wanted.

03-25-2005, 07:38 AM
how much?? :D we want pix and a review!!!

03-25-2005, 09:53 AM
The specs also list the ablity to retain your stock steering wheel controls for a remote. THis is the feature I'm waiting to hear about before i get alpine or pioneer. I really like the 860mp, but I don't want to have steering wheel controls that don't function.

how much?? :D we want pix and a review!!!

Getting it installed tomorrow morning (first appt.) and will post up a few pics after that. I'll post a review on it early next week after I get used to the options and play with it for awhile.

03-28-2005, 01:32 AM
calling my local dealer tomorrow to see if they have one for me!!!!

03-28-2005, 11:06 AM
not anywhere in nashville yet.

Alpine CDA-9815
03-28-2005, 08:45 PM
The glide touch seems like an annoying feature, that's why I got the 9833 instead of the 9853-9855.

04-03-2005, 03:07 PM
I wish they would hurry up and ship these ****ers out. I am getting anxious.

also trying to decide if I should just wait a few more weeks and get a indash DVD w/Screen like the D301 or D901?

04-03-2005, 04:26 PM
i'm thinknig about callin and see if they have any here i finally got the cash and they discontinue the 9835 so im looking into getting the 9855 after checking it out before i look into getting a 9835 from some online store

04-04-2005, 02:21 PM
jsut got mine installed in my car today. It's kind of funny because everyone at my local audio shop wanted to play with it. They will not receive there shipment until May....

04-04-2005, 11:30 PM
i went to my local car shop and it was a pretty bad *** headunit....im ordering mine is 2 weeks

04-05-2005, 03:18 AM
called around all morning and alot of the shops said a week or two more. then I found one that said "let me check our shipment I think we got a few this morning" sure enough they did and I bolted to nashville to get it. was late for work but everything was cool, a slow day which ended up working out better. I installed my 9855 in the parking lot at work. Which was REAL easy since I was replacing a 9813 and my dash just pops off and it only calls for 6 small screws to take it in and out.

as for details, like the rest I will have to get back to you on that. Like I said installed it while at work and only had the ride home to play with it. however one of the first things that I really was impressed with is that fact that at any angle of the face(tilt) the display is still crystal clear.

blah, blah blah... I installed my 9855 ...blah, blah, blah

04-05-2005, 05:44 PM

:needpics: ;)Here's a few, not all that great but ....

04-06-2005, 10:40 PM
does the glide touch strip have any lighting to it at all when i checked it out it was in a show room so all the lights were on

04-06-2005, 11:10 PM
Considering that the 9853 and 9855 are nearly the same expect for higher preouts, changing button colors, and an amazing screen then yes the glide touch glows a very soft white. It does not stand out on the unit but it is bright enough for you to know where it is while driving down the road.

:needpics: ;)

here ya go, if they don't show look in my gallery.

so far, I am loving this new head unit. The glide touch works better than I expected and is easier than expected to scroll through the menus once you learn the menu pages.

anyone know what the "data download" is for? and what you can download to the deck? think we can get any more of the BG Display graphics???

04-07-2005, 12:37 PM
Nice pics man, I just noticed that Best Buy added the 9853 and 9855 to they're site. It says they're only available in the stores though. May have to put it on the old Best Buy credit card :D.

04-07-2005, 12:38 PM
ahhhhh!!! credit cards... don't do it man. just wait and save.

but yeah this thing is amazing. I bet Best Buy has it for the msrp of 500. I got mine for $449 out the door.

You can customize all your settings through the alpine web site burn it on to a disc and download it into the headunit.

To get this feature to work make sure you burn the disc as data. Also you have to register at www.alpine-usa.com to take advantage of this feature.

sounds sweet as hell.

04-07-2005, 01:39 PM
Here are some new, higher quality pictures, of the 9853:

You can also see how the menus are laid out from these pictures.

04-07-2005, 02:43 PM
nice pics.

04-07-2005, 05:49 PM
sounds sweet as hell.

yeah it is and is nothing new, this option has been avalable for a couple years now. My cda 7897 had this feature along with the 9835 that I just got rid of...

04-07-2005, 05:59 PM
Local Best Buy says 9855 will be in no later than May 13th. 9853 is in already.

04-08-2005, 03:36 AM
Does anyone know what 9855 looks like when they are playing an mp3 for eg. What information do they show, I was told they look like the 9835 with the two lines of information but not to sure how reliable the source is. I have an option for either the 9835 or the 9855 when it comes out but I think I am going more for the 9835.

04-15-2005, 01:46 AM
Crutchfield.com has it "In Stock." Now to save up some money... Yay for this

Everyone, what's the difference in Bass Engine and Bass Engine Pro? I wonder this because to me, I can't see myself spending the extra cash on a CDA-9855 for just the display and 4V outputs. Besides, I am using my Epicenter as a line driver anyway (7.5V ;) ).

I wonder this because most sites and even the box on my CDA-9853 say that it's just Bass Engine and you have to upgrade to the CDA-9855 to get Bass Engine Pro. However, upon tweaking my settings, I noticed that I seem to have all the features as Pro. I have the following:

6-Channel Digital Time Correction

6-Position Digital Crossover with Adjustable Slope (2-Way and 3-Way)

5-band Digital Parametric EQ - 1/3-octave increments: Band 1 (20Hz-160Hz), Band 2 (50Hz-400Hz), Band 3 (125Hz-1kHz), Band 4 (315Hz-8kHz), and Band 5 (800Hz-20kHz)

7-band Graphic EQ

Subwoofer Level Control and Phase Selector

MediaXpander (MX)

So, the CDA-9853 has Bass Engine Pro. Which means, then, that the only difference is the display and the 4V outs...So, you have to ask yourself if it's worth $100+ for those additional items....

The colors can only be customized for the 4 buttons next to the knob, right?

The lighting for all other buttons and the knob and the GlideTouch is white, or?

04-17-2005, 11:53 AM
the color of the 4 buttons can be changed to many many different colors. the color of all the other buttons is either green or amber. and, to my knowledge, the GlideTouch bar is always white....
