I have been using my 5 1/4 Eclipse components for 3 years now and would like to upgrade. I am crossing them over on the HU so all I would need are the mid and tweet. I'm sure most sets have the cross over I just don't need it. The Eclipse mid kinda ***** now that I am running only fronts and a sub.

Any opinions on what some really good components are. I would like to use my amp. 85 watts per channel rms X 4.

They make some Rainbows that are like 5g and come in a suitcase..

so I have heard.. or maybe they were 10g..

Well obviously that kind of money is a problem. I am not competing, just want some nice sounding speakers.

So just to clarify. $2000 and under.

Your running them from the HU for power and crossover????

Thats not a good way to do it. And your limit is $2000 US dollors right.

If your running it off your head unit you might as well just buy some decent coaxils.

They are crossed over on my Eclipse 8454. Powered by my Eclipse PA5422. I believe 85 watts rms X 4.

Just remember; the best speakers in the world will still sound like crap in a poor install. Especially when dealing with speakers of this caliber, install is everything

I paid around $300 for my current set up. I guess what I really want is more mid-bass. So even a new mid with my current tweet would sound better.

Check into a long-throw midwoofer; like the RE XXX6.5.

Refer to the RE XXX6.5 mid.

Are the RE XXX 6.5 available separately. Or only as a whole system?

Who sells them online.

Only the mids are available. They are not available as a full comp set.

For purchasing, contact RE directly; www.reaudio.com

definently the alpines , car audio mag reviewed them along with the morel elites, dls iridiums and rainbow references(6g's!) and the alpines came out on top there like 2000$

dont forget. you have your nice eclipse mids and tweets. if you want more midbass, make some kick panels (or get some qforms  ) and throw them in there - then put the XXX6.5's in the doors.

you seriously should amp them both and get an active crossover with that kind of cash tho. wouold make a WORLD of a difference.
