Well, I've had these 5 1/4 inch speakers in the back of my 92' corolla since I got it and, they finally died recently. They had been starting to sound pretty bad which I assume was prolly a crack forming and recently the one completely blew out all around the cone. The other side has a few small cracks around so I've got the head unit faded to front... It looks like I'm gonna need new speakers... lol

Here they are:

I basically need replacements. I have been looking on e-bay and there are plenty of pairs of 5 1/4 speakers for maybe 25$ but, I can't seem to figure out how to get these ones out. I was also wondering if there was anything I needed to know before I swapped the speakers out. I'm very new to all this so even simple stuff that may help would be appreciated.

Thanks

can u say crossover.

i would think that plastic cover would pop off. then you would pick up that back carpeted dash piece and unscrew them from there.

So a cross over would prevent the speakers from blowing by not sending them notes they can't play? Also anyone know what 5.25's I might be able to snag off E-bay that would still be satisfactory? I was looking at some 5.25 Volvenhangs for 27$ shipped new.

put a passive crossover on them. don't waste your money on those volfenhagen or whatever. these are budget rear fill speakers.

The thing is the cars not going to last all that much longer. lol I don't want to put all that much in but for the few more months I would like to have sound. That's why I was thinking more budget range speakers.
