i took back my alpine 9831 and im going to get
one of the pioneers. im trying to decide on
which one and if i should try to get it used
or if i could find it reasonably somewhere online.

any reason to get one vs. the other?

whats the cheapest place to get either besides
ebay?

u can get the 860 for like 280 plus shipping online from ebay, it ends up costing less than the 8600 in most cases

after listening to it some more and learning the ridiculous
menu functions i decided it wasnt really that cool and since
pioneer has a similar ipod do-hickey i would just rather stick
with pioneer. the only other two HUs ive ever owned were
pioneers and they lasted forever...

plus for the extra cash... the screen is so cool...

not to mention the burr-brown, more eq, and plenty
of other stuff im sure to never figure out how to use.

if somebody could post that 280 link that would be cool... the
cheapest i saw it on ebay was like 309...

how are the 860 and 8600 different?

860. most of the ones on ebay at 300-320+shipping. theres a few refurbs for about 280-300. that sux man, they got marked up a decent amount since the last time i looked for/bought mine. mines a refurb and its worked for the couple of months that ive had it now.

the screen isnt that cool btw. i'd much rather have just plain white writing.

best price that looks legit, but its a refurb

does this look like a NEW and LEGIT one???

also if the screen isnt cool... is it at least easy to read? the alpine was not
those stupid dots drove me nuts...

well i usually think i have things figured out and
i got with it, but more often then not my first choice
doesnt seem to work out. things end up ok eventually.

JAZN how do you like the HU overall? i know youve got
good taste in subs.

the 860 has more volts than the 8600

i just did a comparison on pioneers web site.

the only differences are the 6.5 vs. 4 volt pre outs in favor of the premier
and the pro mode for the pre outs which is a nice touch...

definately getting the 860 now ive just gotta find one...

Email that seller, I got my 860 for $255 shipped. It is a refurb, has a warranty direct from Pioneer. I dont see any listed, but when I got mine, they said to email if I was ever looking for anything specific. Worth a shot, anyway.
