View Full Version : Clarion DXZ855MP-Anyone heard it yet?

Hey guys. I'm starting to try and get my system ideas together. I love eclipse products and like their headunits but this clarion grabbed my attention from the get-go when the guy at tweeter showed it to me. (Don't worry, I would never buy anything from tweeter, they rape you on the price lol.)

My question is has anyone used them yet? I know they are basically brand new so I don't know if anyone has heard or used one yet but are they somewhat easy to use? They have a touch screen so their design is awesome and it jsut looks cool but does it sound good? Any feedback is appreciated.

Also, is there any other HU that you suggest I look into for a great all around system for alot of different styles of music? thx

I ran an 835MP for a few months. It was a nice deck, but my eclipse 8053 was easily a nicer sounding deck...just all around smoother.

I was going to go with the same HU, but it was mainly for looks...you can find something much better with regards to SQ if you are willing to forego all of the aesthetic bells and whistles. The Pioneer premier 860, eclipse, and Alpine 9853 have all reciebved rave reviews.

As for me, I'm waiting for my 9855!

Which eclipse do you guys suggest then? Any other good HU's with single din touch screen?

i saw the 855mp at my local shop today. its a nice deck with decent features, the lcd touchscreen is really nice looking. but remember that with that deck, you are paying for the lcd and touchscreen features, its audio features are okay, not $600 worth.
i cant stand those new eclipse units, its not just the looks, its other things like the knobs not sticking out as much as before and not having rubber on them, making them harder to use.
you might still be able to get last years eclipse, like the CD8454, great deck if you are looking for audio features.

We carry Clarion here at my store and I love them. I've used Eclipse, Alpine, Kenwood, JVC, Pioneer, and Sony and Clarion is, IMO, my favorite out of the bunch. The DXZ855MP is a nice deck with awesome features, but the DXZ945MP is gonna be the way to go if you are looking for an SQ oriented deck. I use the 945 and it is hands-down the best sounding so far. If money is no object, go for the DRZ9255 (MSRP 1300.00)

If the 945 were color I'd be all over that, but I liik the look of the 855 alot more than the 945, although I can prolly get the 945 for alot cheaper huh? lol, Now i'm just runnin in circles! lol

the 945mp from last year is still around this year, so i dont think there will be an significant discounts on it.

I checked ebay and I could find one for just over $300 new. The 855 I can't find for less than 450 new and sicne it's a brand new model, forget trying to find it used.

So here's what I think the game plan is gunna be...

I think I';m gunna spring for the DXZ855MP first. My thinking is that right now, I love the look of it and it's high end clarion so it msut sound pretty decent. Worse comes to worse, I don't enjoy it, I sell it off, buy the DXZ945MP for more than $100 bucks less and then I end up with an extra 100 bucks that I thought was gone?! sounds like a plan lol

PS.-They just installed it at tweeter so I'm going to go listen to it with the speakers I think I have chosen, the MB Quart PCE-216's

How do you guys think that 945 would compare to the Alpine 9855. I want a highly-SQ oriented HU and I cannot decide between the two.

How do you guys think that the 855 stacks up to the Alpine 9355? I am looking for an SQ oriented HU, but can't make my mind up for the life of me. I want SQ + Siruis.
