Alpine 9830 for $255 shipped
Kenwood MP925 $320 shipped

The Kenwood has far better EQ options (from what I can tell), but it's a flip down screen. I have an 05 Corolla, and the HU is kind of high up for a flip down, even if I put the HU on the bottom of the installation kit.

I've heard great reviews of Alpine HU's, and a couple enthused Kenwood owners talked their stuff up, but what do you guys think?

Rough estimation of what the HU's would look like.

I'm not concerned about the HU's appearance a whole lot, its just that the Kenwood sits kind of high for it to flip down and be angled up a little.

My interior has slightly different colors anyway.

either way you go, you will be satisfied. both units are great reliable setups from good companys. if it was me, id go with the alpine, but thats just because i have never had anything else.

Thats what I was kind of leaning towards.

It's a good $70 cheaper, too.

I say go alpine out of those.

I'd only go with a kenwood excelon, they're a better quality than standard kenwoods. You should be able to find a KDC-X879 for less than $300 ebayed and it uses the same frame as that MP(rotating face).

Alright, cool.

I'll probably just spend the extra $50 and get the 9831, too.

The kenwood gets my vote. And you can angle the face to go almost vertical. It has 3 position settings. Great HU's.
